KAYAKING / CANOEING - BCU AWARDS
For many just messing about in boats is enough but others like to have a bench mark standard to compare their performance against.
If that's you then we offer the British Canoe Union (BCU) personal performance awards from 1* to 3* and the Foundation Safety & Rescue Training course.
Although we are obliged to follow a syllabus we will:
- Provide you with a enjoyable learning experience; and
- Make sure you leave smiling.
BCU - Performance Awards
An outline summary of the syllabus for the 1* - 3* awards is given below.
1* - This is an entry level award for those who are new to the sport and can be undertaken any type of craft.
2* - This award assess both canoe and kayak skills and ensures that paddlers have a broad range of skills. This is also the minimum level of proficiency required for those wishing to enter
the coaching scheme.
3* - This is craft specific and assesses paddlers on simple white water. Paddlers who hold this award can leave their L plates at home.
For further details of the syllabus see the BCU Website by clicking here.
